Dear Customers,
If I were about 60 years younger, right about now I’d be on full Christmas alert! I’d be so excited I’d be virtually vibrating. And why wouldn’t I? The houses in the neighborhood were decked out in their illuminated finery and the Main Street business section was aglow with lights strung across the road at every light pole. From my vantage point on the sidewalk in the 400 block of East Main, the limited depth of field made it look a colorful ceiling covering every square inch of uptown. I’d spend hours lying beneath the lit Christmas tree, just staring at the lights and imagining the packages that would soon be piled beneath it!
I’m sure the Christmases of my youth weren’t as idyllic as I remember them, but time has a way of smoothing over the bumps. I wonder if in 50 years or so, kids who grew up in 2021 will even remember having to wear masks or the trouble their parents had securing that one important gift on their list to Santa! When you’re young, you’re often unaware of all the ugly problems in the world and you concentrate instead on things like making sure you’re smack dab in front of the television when A Charlie Brown’s Christmas airs.
Christmas is on Saturday this year and just as we have for 75 years, we will close early on Christmas Eve and remain closed all day Christmas. Our hours on Friday, December 24th are 7am – 5pm and we will reopen at 8am on Sunday morning, December 26th. In the days leading up to the holiday, you’ll no doubt remember things you’ve forgotten or just didn’t have time to make. Merely a reminder, but Costa’s Deli-Bakery is chock full of homemade goodies, sweets and baked goods. The deli can help with party platters and entrees. Just give us a call at 887-9371 – your direct line to the deli.
Finally, the Costa family would like to extend to you, our faithful friends and customers, the Merriest of Christmases and a Happy, Holy Holiday. From our family to yours. . .
