Dear Customers,
The first full week of June is when many families with school-aged children leave for vacation. It’s almost as if they can’t wait another day because the chalk dust from the blackboards hasn’t even settled yet, and for some that’s completely understandable. The pressures and problems of the past year make a break from routine not only welcome, but necessary!
For other families, this is the week when the first graduation parties are often scheduled. I say “the first” because every weekend from now up to and including July usually has at least one, often several scheduled. Throwing a graduation party for your son or daughter used to be a much less involved endeavor. Maybe a cake . . . some hotdogs and/or hamburgers . . . and a few close friends and immediate relatives.
I don’t remember exactly when, but somewhere along the line some over-zealous parent threw an all-out bash, and the challenge was thrown down and accepted! Don’t get me wrong, graduation is a fine accomplishment – harder for some than for others – and it’s well deserving of some commemorative event. Now, each successive graduation year there are more and more parties, each more elaborate than the other.
