Dear Customers,
Summer is coming to its normal conclusion, albeit three weeks before the calendar thinks! This weekend we celebrate Labor Day which is for all intents and purposes the end of summer for most people. That is “most people with school age children”. I no longer fall into that category and neither does my wife who retired last year after 30 plus years of teaching. That means we can travel, stay up late and sleep in every morning. None of which we will probably end up doing!
When I was raising a family, I always used to wonder what it might be like to take a vacation in September when all the school age children around the country are, well, back in school. The beaches would be empty, the restaurants and tourist attractions would be sparsely inhabited and that in itself would make it much more enjoyable for my money! I couldn’t have been more wrong – now all those places are full of retirees and “leaf-peepers”!
But, before you start into that “school-is-in-session” rut, it’s your last chance this weekend to have an end of summer bash, so to speak. Have a few people over, break out the grill (whether charcoal, pellet, or propane) and send summer out with a flourish. You have a nice three-day weekend to plan your festivities and Costa’s Supermarket will be there to help.
There are very few holidays in the grocery industry and as I tell all prospective employees, “We’re at our busiest when everyone else is off having fun!” With that in mind, our holiday hours are the same as our everyday hours. Nearly 75 years ago, my Dad realized that opening at 9am and closing at 5pm might be OK for the local clothing store but it just wouldn’t cut it for people looking to grocery shop. We will be here with the lights on until 9pm every night this week and open for your shopping convenience.
We have the finest meat department around, a full-service deli and bakery with a delicious assortment of freshly baked breads and sweets, as well as a garden-fresh produce department. Add to that the convenience of wine or ice-cold beer and we’re absolutely your one-stop shopping destination! So, send summer out with a bang instead of a whimper this weekend and stop in for all your holiday needs!
