Dear Customers,
It’s been a long time in the works already and it figures to be quite a while longer before we’ve completed the task, but we ARE making progress, albeit slowly. It brings to mind, the 12 labors of Hercules – seemingly endless!
Beginning back in November we began the “Herculean” task of going through the entire store, over 28,000 items, and lowering thousands of retail prices! That’s right, that’s not a misprint! It took almost a month to do just the first aisle-glass jars and dairy. The process involves identifying items we want to lower, sending the information to our warehouse and then waiting for them to print and send the new “lower-priced” shelf tags.
At that point, the hard work is just beginning. We have two FM transmitter “guns” that we use to check in vendors and to check the pricing information on any item in the store. Our crew has to physically take the new labels out into the particular section of the store – locate the item in question, scan the product’s UPC code, verify the new lower price, peel off the old price label and install the new one.
It sounds simple, but we’re finding out that’s its very tedious and slow-going to say the least. We knew it would be time consuming, but we really had no idea what to expect. We will continue marching on with our ultimate goal to be more competitive in our pricing. Good thing there’s a whole extra day this leap year – we’re gonna’ need it!
