Dear Customers,
Many Americans flee the cold climate we’re blessed with around here from the end of October until well into the late part of April. That’s not to say that we don’t get some gorgeous days during that span, but for the most part, “dark, gray, cloudy and cold” is the norm! I completely understand why many choose to fly or drive south during those months. But what I don’t understand is why some schedule their sojourn between the 1st of May and late summer!
Those late spring, early summer months in Northwestern Pennsylvania are the most beautiful of the year! There’s no way I’d ever consider leaving then to go any further south than the border of the Commonwealth! There is so much to interest us at this time of year, proms, graduations, and of course Memorial Day.
As the first real holiday of the warmer months, Memorial Day is the perfect time to get together with family and friends to honor those who have served their country with their time, their talents and often with their lives! This weekend will see scores of family members visiting their local cemeteries, placing wreaths and American flags on the graves of our fallen heroes.
And is almost always the case with a holiday, the festivities include some sort of commemorative meal whether it be a picnic, a barbeque or just a simple gathering for the immediate family. Costa’s Supermarket will be open our normal hours the entire weekend, including the actual holiday, Monday, May 27th.
Just as a reminder, you may remember a few months ago, I detailed the impending arrival of our food show deals and displays. That merchandise has been making its way slowly but surely into our aisles – often with a very noticeable deal price. Much of that which we bought is seasonal so with the warmer months close at hand, you’ll see more and more of those products making their way into our aisles and also in our weekly ads. Shop carefully, you won’t want to miss out on these great savings!
